Job Responsibilities
- Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
- Position material prior to lift and determine weight of object.
- Select proper rigging for the job such as cables, straps or chains and ensures they have been inspected and are in good working condition.
- Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceiling, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
- Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.
- Give directions to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material hoisting equipment, using hand signals, loud speaker, two-way radio or telephone.
- Set up, brace and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power tools.
- Work with erection team to complete the assigned tasks.
- Ability to tie various knots.
- Assemble and disassemble cranes.
- Clean, maintain tools and inspect all equipment used in Rigging.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
- Ability to interpret an Engineer’s rigging plan
- Other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively
- Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
- 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
- Must be able to work up to 200 feet
- Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements
