Job Summary:
The Gallery Director will manage the daily aspects of the Thompson Valley Art League membershipowned
Art Gallery. The Director will coordinate the display of our member art, art sales, daily
administration of the Gallery, art community connections and member interaction.
The Director is Responsible for the gallery appearance and atmosphere – and will be the
face of the Organization - taking an active part in the direction and drive of the
organization.
Gallery Management:
Manage daily sales and customer interaction
Coordinate window displays and signage
Perform Gallery merchandising and Gallery art hanging including for special shows
Greet all customers and answer the phone
Have good knowledge of all mediums supported by the gallery and be familiar and
knowledgeable of all artists hanging their artwork in the Gallery
Actively participate in Gallery social media, reels, posts and FB lives
Attend all Gallery events
Communicate marketing needs to the Marketing Director
Coordinate the hanging of all member art change-outs and show exhibitions
Building Care and Maintenance:
Interior
Daily cleaning of the gallery
Occasional paint touch-up and carpet cleaning (annually)
Daily restroom and kitchen cleaning
Monthly refrigerator cleaning
Exterior
Sweeping front and back door when needed
Shoveling anything over 2” of snow, front, back and North sidewalk
Maintaining the front flower pots for a welcoming appearance.
Scheduling maintenance, window cleaning, filter changes, contracting vendors
Submitting invoices to the BOD
Handling any emergency maintenance as needed
Maintaining Phone, Internet, HVAC and AC.
Monitoring outside aesthetics, damage, paint, roof and awning.
Other Duties:
Entering any new PAID membership to the member rosters
Notifying members of upcoming events, and change-out dates and details (when they call or
come in…all other communication should be performed by the newsletter and Membership
coordinator)
Attending the monthly Directors Meetings and all Membership Meetings
Purchasing all supplies, submitting any RFP to the BOD (over $750)
Keeping involved with City and Downtown events and promotions
Managing buyer patrons
Maintaining monthly inventory for exhibiting members
Maintaining monthly sales sheets available at the Gallery
Training and scheduling of volunteers during vacation hours or sick leave.
Recruiting and maintaining the monthly Gallery coverage schedule, including NOTT and all
special events.
Compensation:
Monthly salary is as follows
o Paid hourly at $18/hr for approximately 50 hours per month
o 24 hours per week, every other week - negotiable
o Gallery shall be open Tuesday-Saturday, Noon-6pm each week
TVAL/Lincoln Gallery exhibiting membership is included in the compensation.
