Thompson First Group is seeking a HR Manager for a direct hire opportunity with a local client in Emporia, VA.
Candidates with a background providing strategic direction and fostering continuous improvements of HR processes are encouraged to apply.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build credibility and trust with the workforce and leaders.
- Facilitate, supervise, and evaluate activities and performance of human resources staff.
- Facilitates meetings and professional development on employee related topics and issues for staff.
- Assess staff and management raining requirements and create programs to meet career development needs.
- Assess job descriptions and benchmark pay of positions; review classification of positions and rewrite as needed.
- Direct the implementation of HR policies, programs, and procedures.
- Prepare and manage the labor budget including analyzing results and developing recommendations for improved.
- Responds to employe relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, civil rights complaints etc.
- Monitor proper documentation of OSHA recordables and annual required OSHA training.
- Partner with benefit broker to ensure the company offers competitive and compliant benefit packages.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws related to benefits administration, including ACA, COBRA, and FMLA.
QUALIFICATION / REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science Degree in related field.10 years of Quality Assurance or related experience.1-3 years of managerial experience.Experience in manufacturing setting is preferred.Familiar with specs for transportation industry and transparent armor including but not limited to ATPD 2352, ANSI Z261, MILSTD 2073, MILSTD130, MILSTD 129, MILSTED 53072.Ability to motivate and influence floor and staff associates in all activities.Must be able to speak, listen, and write proficiently to communicate to all levels of organization.Excellent communication and people skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Ensure employees connect with how they create value for the company; identify talent gaps that are obstacles and coach supervisors on the development of gap closure plans.Understand, develop, apply, and coach employees on our company goals and culture.Drive innovation in HR functions and processes to include continued automation of transaction work and leveraging shared capabilities across the business.Provide strategic guidance to leaders in areas of change management and employee development.Leverage data driven solutions to support business and advance results.Partner with various capabilities to improve talent position – selection, attraction, and retention.Identify HR Compliance risks and develop gap closure plans to address risks while implementing a systematic approach to maintaining compliance.Optimize risk to the Company by effectively interpreting current policies and practices while identifying opportunities to drive efficiency.Be “forward thinking” to anticipate needs and issues before they arise.Stays abreast of current research and best practices in human resources management and development.Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager and / or VP of Operations.QUALIFICATION / REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field.5 years Previous Human Resources experience in for VA and or NC preferredHR certification is a plus.Ability to show thorough knowledge of HR principles and federal / local regulations through questions, discussions and completed tasksPayroll experience.Very strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential.Takes ownership of job responsibilities with personal pride and accountability.Experience with a manufacturing environment is preferred.Very prompt, hardworking and loves what they do.Ability to work independently with little supervision required.Ability to remain calm while working under pressure in a busy environment.Ability to work within timeframe of standard policies and procedures and not miss deadlines / due dates.Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and employee information.Excellent ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem solve in a busy, fast paced environment.Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point is essential.Exhibit extraordinary discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with our team.Excellent time, leadership, and management skills.Efficient in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong professionalism, organizational and planning skills.BENEFITS
