What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mold Set-up/ Start up Technician 1st shift position at Thomson Plastics, Inc.?
**Responsibilities:**
- Change molds per daily production schedule.
- Monitoring and recording process sheet checks
- Setting up work station by removing all parts, packaging from previous run and replacing with proper packaging for new run
- Setting up of molds in Injection Molding Machines (IMM) in a safe and timely manner
- Setting up End of Arm Tooling and executing the proper robot programs
- Ensure previous mold/process setup binder is removed from press and returned to the proper order on the setup binder bookcase. Only one binder should be at the press at all times.
- Perform housekeeping responsibilities prior to leaving press area after all completed mold changes: clean up any oil or water spills on floor around press.
- Remove set-up materials, parts, cables and extra hoses from the press area
- Clean all old parts and runners from under machine, on machine and around press area
- Return workstation and all components to their proper place
- Assist with the tracking changeover times as instructed.
- Communicate between shifts to ensure a smooth turnover.
- Immediately notify the Skilled Trades Manager or Plant Manager of any problems.
- Assist in the implementation of new equipment, processes and projects
- Perform End of run mold PMs and assist in Tooling Shop.
- Assist with minor maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure that the requirements of quality system are met within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Assist Process Technicians and Material Handlers when not actively changing molds.
- Have flexibility to complete projects assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
- These responsibilities are flexible and may change as needed.
Qualifications Required!!
· Mold setting experience is required.
· Forklift training.
· Good communication skills.
· Overhead crane training.
· On-the-Job training.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 40lbs continuously and without assistance.
Must be able to stand and walk around on a concrete floor for up to 8-12 hours per day.
Must be able to climb up and down ladders and on equipment regularly and consistently.
Must be able to safely work in a non-climate controlled environment (hot in Summer, cold in Winter).
