Position Summary:
Produces machined parts on Second Shift by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. CNC Operators are highly skilled professionals, able to work with great concentration and precision. They must be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines. A keen eye for detail and strong mechanical aptitude are also essential.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, be able to multi-task across multiple assigned projects, manage unplanned events, and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results that exceed expectations. This individual must be able to communicate with team members, demonstrate problem solving skills, critical thinking and prudent decision-making skills.
This role will also require the ability to quickly become proficient in the understanding of hardware development and the associated company processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Production
1.1. Working knowledge of CNC lathe functions.
1.2. Knowledge of G- Code programming. Mazak and Fanuc control experienced is strongly preferred.
1.3. Ability to adjust machining parameters (work/tool offsets) to ensure product quality characteristics are maintained.
1.4. Ensure that machining operations are in accordance within the guidelines of the all requirements.
1.5. Must be comfortable working with large parts and have experience maintaining tight tolerances /-.0005”.
1.6. Perform preventative maintenance on machinery as required (daily/weekly/monthly/annual).
2. Quality
2.1. Ensure adherence to safety rules and practices to company and regulatory standards.
2.2. Ensure adherence to product quality verification and inspection of products produced.
2.3. Monitor or measure manufacturing processes to identify ways to reduce yield loss, decrease cycle times or improve quality.
3. Physical Requirements
3.1. Must be able to sit or stand and walk for extended periods of time.
3.2. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
4. Background/Experience
4.1. Must be a “US citizen” as defined by the US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR data.
4.2. Ability to read, write and communicate English language.
4.3. Proficient with various MS Office programs.
4.4. Minimum 5 years’ experience in machining and fabrication environment.
4.5. History working with high temperature alloys and Titanium alloys.
4.6. Knowledge of process improvement methods and techniques, such as Lean.
4.7. Must possess strong basic math skills.
4.8. Proven history of working with metrology gauges.
