No less important, a Trail Crew Leaders secondary role is helping teach and support THORs trail education programs for volunteers, land managers, and communities in coordination with the Community Director and other THOR staff.This full-time role is typically expected to work 40 hours per week outdoors and will work directly with the Trail Crew Director to ensure alignment of weekly and monthly goals, inspections, and land manager requests. The Trail Crew Leaders work requires leveraging technology, including computers, mobile devices, general and specialized software, and ensuring data accuracy. A Trail Crew Leader will communicate direction to full-time and seasonal Trail Crew members when questions arise in the field.THOR is a community-driven non-profit seeking to meet the needs of riders, runners, hikers, and other trail users alongside our land manager and other partners, including states, cities, and other community organizations. Trail Crew members improve our trails and serve as ambassadors to the community and our partners.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Trail Crew Leader executes trail maintenance, operation, and inspection plans with the Trails Crew Director and the Trail Crew. Complete and document trail inspections, open or close trails as necessary for safety or maintenance, rectify minor maintenance issues, or submit requests for more significant trail work and / or maintenance.Mow, weed eat, prune tree branches, and rake trails of debris.Install trail signage.Adhere to best practices as defined by THOR / IMBA in alignment with land manager requirements, including grade dips, nicks, and proper trail grades.Maintain and educate others on techniques for building and maintaining dirt jumps and natural features. Operate powered lawn care equipment, including chainsaws, mowers, weed trimmers, mini-excavators, skid steers, and plate compactors.

We are a task, result, and impact-oriented, individually responsible team focused on continuous creativity and iterative improvement. We do not have a fixed schedule, although the entire team is generally available for each other and the public we serve during typical working days and times.This is a remote position; however, the candidate must be located in Greater Omaha-Metro of Nebraska to support local trail promotions, attend community events, participate in in-person team meetings, and collaborate effectively with the team.
