What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Thorlabs?
The position is responsible for safely transporting product to various Thorlabs locations.
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
- Operates company owned/rented 26 foot box truck (non CDL).
- Transports all HV (High Volume) warehouse and BP (Brooks Plaza) finished goods receipts from NW to the Brooks location.
- Moves material from truck using a pallet jack or fork lift as required.
- Ensures all inventory is kept in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Communicates with queue control on orders to ensure our same day shipping commitment.
- Complies with all safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work area.
In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
Physical Activities:
Work may be very active, could stand for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. Typical activities can include but not limited to walking, climbing stairs and/or ladders, twisting, turning, bending, reaching, reaching above the shoulders and stooping. Lifts up to 65 pounds.
Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of warehouse distribution experience.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have driver license.
- Familiarity with using a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Axapta.
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong ability to work well in a group or independently, and comply with high quality standards.
- Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing priorities.
