Purpose of the Position
As part of the TQE team, the Planner will be responsible for but not limited to; on time delivery of OEM and catalog products by following through from customer commit to actual shipment; providing planning support for new product introduction of modules, sub-assemblies and components. Although the location of the position is in Jessup, MD, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other ThorLabs locations.
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
Physical Activities:
Work may be active, could stand or sit for long durations and /or perform repetitious work at times. The employee may lift or move objects up to 20 pounds. Employee must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often small. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, may be noisy at times. Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment such as but not limited to masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments. The required PPE and training allow for the safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives, lubricants and solvents, and safe operation of job-related equipment and tools.
Requirements
Experience:
Minimum 3 year of experience in planning and/or scheduling experience preferably in semiconductor, telecommunications, data communications components, sub-systems and modules, NPI planning experience preferred
Education:
BS preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Follow clean room protocol.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
- Manages the manufacturing planning process for finished goods and sub-assemblies
- Maintain production plan for the assigned product lines by available capacity
- Issue production orders daily to the production floor based on components and capacity availability
- Analyse and maintain coverage min levels for components, sub-assemblies and finished goods
- Keep track and maintain production lead time for sub-assemblies and finished goods.
- Monitor critical shortages, high stocks, low stocks and zero stocks
- Work with purchasing to ensure that the critical components and raw materials are delivered on time, then, proactively review component/raw material supply and determine the required push/pull actions resulting from this.
- Work with inventory control and production supervisors to maintain component inventory accuracy for the assigned product lines.
- Assists in shipping & receiving responsibilities as needed.
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments

- Experience with complex planning, forecasting, and product lifecycle programs
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, preferably Microsoft D365
- Strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high quality standards
