Position: Director of Curriculum - PreK - 12th Grade
Position Purpose:
Primary responsibilities include providing leadership in the development, coordination, and supervision of the district’s educational programs and staff development. Other major responsibilities are research and planning, curriculum evaluation, and implementation of instructional/curricular/technology materials and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate and be eligible to obtain Michigan administrator certification.
- Possess a valid School Administrator Certificate, preferred.
- Master’s degree with emphasis in curriculum and instruction.
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience, and curriculum/instruction experience preferred.
- Leadership experience in the areas of curriculum and instruction at various levels.
- Strong literacy background.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for the organization and implementation of the school improvement process, which includes data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate with administrators to lead Professional Learning Communities and MTSS and PBIS initiatives at all levels. Plan, facilitate, and engage in this work across the district.
- Facilitate and lead the District Implementation Team, administrators, and building teams to plan and organize
district MTSS and PBIS activities.
- Lead the District MTSS teams and administrators to establish data collection, analysis, decision-making rules,
evaluation, and reporting processes.
- Collaborate with the District Implementation Team to plan, organize, and provide professional development
activities related to research-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. - Consult and collaborate with teachers regarding curriculum and instruction.
- Coordinate and monitor district and state assessments.
- Take a lead role in receiving, coordinating, and managing various state and federal educational grant programs.
- Assist with developing and monitoring the PreK-12 curriculum budgets.
- Responsible for MICIP, the Consolidated Application, and other various state-level reports, as well as a variety of reports prepared for local community presentation and/or publicity.
- Provide professional development, coaching, and support to district staff.
- Serve on Kent Learning Communities at the KISD.
- Serve on various school and community committees.
- Coordinate DPPD and SCECHs for all staff. Provide training for novice teachers.
- Manage and oversee all interventions across the district.
- Follow all Board policies, state laws, and regulations.
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment:
207 work days per contract
