JOB OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Housekeeper to join the Thornapple Manor team! As a Housekeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including but not limited to dusting, mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming all designated areas of Thornapple Manor.
- Sanitize and disinfect high-touch surfaces to prevent the spread of infection in compliance with health guidelines and standards.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with Thornapple Manor policies.
- Assist with the restocking of supplies needed for cleaning operations and ensure proper inventory control within environmental services storage areas.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in proper working order and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly to the supervisor.
- Follow established procedures for cleaning specialty areas such as resident rooms, nursing stations, conference rooms, waiting areas with diligence and care.
- Cooperate with other staff members to ensure resident areas are safe, clean, and welcoming at all times.
- Perform all cleaning duties as directed by the Facility Services Supervisor according to required department policies and procedures.
- Performs terminal cleaning procedures of resident rooms and prepares rooms for new admissions; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
- Cleans vents, fan fixtures, top of windows, door frames and other high surfaces.
- Delivers linen to departments according to pre-established par levels and schedules.
- Ensure that daily and deep cleaning schedules are adhered to.
- Adhere to correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is completed daily.
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in housekeeping services or a healthcare environment is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are met.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Must possess a positive attitude that cultivates the health and well-being of all.
- Must be open to collaboration with various departments and personnel. Accountability of duties assigned.
- Ensure all communication and actions are done in a respectful manner toward residents, visitors, and fellow coworkers.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Physical stamina to handle a fast-paced environment and lift heavy items when necessary.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of the position can be met.
- Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of fifty pounds.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Works in all areas of the building.
- Moves intermittently during working hours.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired.
- Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
- Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Subject of callback during emergency conditions (i.e., severe weather. Evacuation, post disaster, etc.)
- Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
- Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B virus.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
