Job Summary: Thorne Consulting is seeking a passionate and skilled Student Teacher to join our team and provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students with disabilities. The primary focus of this role will be to offer instructional support, design curriculum tailored to Pre-ETS goals, and submit weekly trainer reports detailing student progress and program effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Support:
- Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities on key Pre-ETS areas including career exploration, job readiness, financial literacy, and self-advocacy.
- Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies to meet each student's unique learning needs and transition goals.
- Assist students in enhancing employability skills like communication, problem-solving, time management, and teamwork through engaging and interactive lessons.
- Curriculum Design:
- Design and develop Pre-ETS-focused curriculum materials that align with state and federal guidelines for transition services.
- Ensure the curriculum is relevant to the students' career interests, aptitudes, and postsecondary goals, with an emphasis on practical, real-world skills.
- Continuously update and modify curriculum content based on student feedback, progress, and changing needs.
- Weekly Pre-ETS Trainer Reports:
- Submit comprehensive weekly trainer reports that detail each student's progress in the Pre-ETS program, including challenges, achievements, and goals for the following week.
- Document instructional activities, student participation, and skill development.
- Provide recommendations for individualized support and areas for curriculum adjustment based on student performance.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other Thorne Consulting team members to ensure consistent delivery of Pre-ETS services and to align instructional strategies.
- Maintain open and regular communication with students' families and other stakeholders regarding student progress and next steps.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss the development and refinement of curriculum and program goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certification in Special Education with experience in Pre-ETS or transition planning (as required by state regulations).
- Strong background in designing educational materials and curricula.
- Experience working directly with students with disabilities, especially in transition-focused education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and collaboration with team members and families.
Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in curriculum development for students with disabilities.
- Ability to provide individualized instruction and adapt materials for diverse learning needs.
- Strong organizational skills to manage reporting, documentation, and instructional planning.
- Proficiency in using technology and online tools for curriculum development and student tracking.
