POSITION SUMMARY : The Principal Scientist of Product Development at Thorne Research will lead the development of innovative powder-based dietary supplements, ensuring premium product standards and alignment with Thorne’s strategic goals. This role focuses on delivering exceptional flavor, sensory attributes, and product performance while supporting Thorne's cutting-edge approach to health and wellness. This position reports into the VP of Product Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Satisfactorily performing and / or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.
- Design and develop powdered dietary supplements and nutrition products, transforming product concepts into high-quality, market-ready solutions with optimal flavor, sensory, and functional characteristics.
- Conduct and manage sensory evaluations, leveraging panel feedback to refine formulations and meet performance targets.
- Collaborate with procurement, external suppliers, and flavor suppliers to identify high-quality ingredients and integrate innovative solutions into formulations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including Medical Affairs and Marketing, to ensure products meet compliance standards and align with brand expectations.
- Lead scale-up activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions to commercial production and readiness for successful product launches.
- Maintain detailed records of formulation iterations, stability studies, and analytical outcomes, using internal documentation systems to ensure transparency and traceability.
- Work closely with Quality and Medical Affairs to develop accurate labeling information, including Supplement / Nutrition Facts panels and ingredient disclosures.
- Stay updated on advancements in powder formulations, ingredient technologies, and consumer preferences, applying this knowledge to drive product innovation.
