POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Tax Manager will assist in leading tax strategy and tax related activities for Thorne. The Senior Tax Manager will play a critical role in managing the company's tax function, including compliance, reporting, strategy, and planning. This individual will work closely with senior management and external third-party tax advisors to ensure that the company meets its tax obligations efficiently and effectively, while also identifying opportunities for tax savings and risk mitigation. This is a hands-on role, interacting and collaborating with internal finance and other business partners to ensure the timely and accurate execution of tax responsibilities.
FLSA STATUS: The U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers to classify their employees as being either exempt or non-exempt for the purpose of being paid overtime wages. The essential duties of this job are such that the employee is classified according to the FLSA as an EXEMPT employee.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the company's tax compliance requirements at the federal, state, and local levels, ensuring accurate and timely filings.
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning initiatives to minimize tax liabilities and support business objectives. Includes, sales & use, franchise tax and tax credits.
- Lead the tax reporting process, including partnering with third-party tax advisors in the preparation of tax provisions in financial statements, in accordance with GAAP and other applicable regulations.
- Collaborate with outside third-party tax advisors to ensure comprehensive tax strategies are in place, leveraging their expertise for complex tax issues and audits, including, forward looking cash tax planning.
- Partner with the internal Controlling team to ensure internal controls and procedures for tax processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Proactively research and advise management regarding effects of business activities on taxes, and on strategies for minimizing tax liability.
- Review new tax legislation and reporting standards and advises on the implications for the effective tax rate, cash forecasts and disclosures, updating relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
- Support across a range of diverse and critical projects across the region including, cross-entity transfer pricing, calculating and managing tax basis as needed and supporting M&D and restructuring activities.
- Seek formal and informal performance assessments of self, including performance versus expectations and goals, behaviors, and leadership potential
What You Need:
- Experience and/or Education: By training, education and/or experience, employee must be able to perform the essential duties of the job. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance required. Master’s degree in Tax or a CPA certification is highly preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within a large corporation or public accounting firm.
- Computer and Technical Skills: Employee has extensive knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as the ability to learn in-house computer programs. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus.
- Experience working in a consumer goods company is preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Strong experience with tax planning and strategies, compliance, and reporting.
