Job Title: Baker
Reports to: Bakery Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly
Under the direction of the Bakery Department Manager, responsible for working closely with all Bakery associates in an effort to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed, department goals are being obtained, and guests’ needs are being met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check products for quality and identify damaged or expired goods.
- Evaluate quality of food ingredients or prepared foods.
- Set oven temperatures and place items into hot ovens for baking.
- Place dough in pans, molds, or on sheets and bake in production ovens.
- Apply glazes, icings, or other toppings to baked goods, using spatulas or brushes.
- Decorate baked goods, such as cookies or pastries.
- Operate slicing or wrapping machines.
- Roll, knead, cut, or shape dough to form sweet rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookies, or other products.
- Order or receive supplies or equipment.
- Qualifications:

- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
- Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies
- Basic knowledge offood business, thorough knowledge of perishable department operations, and must be able to make timely and effective decisions
- Other duties as assigned
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Stand in one spot for a long period of time
- Full range of upper body motion
- Lifting up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis
- May be exposed to varying temperatures such as refrigerators, freezers, kitchens, and sales floor.
Work Schedule:
The Baker is an hourly position. The work schedule generally includes early mornings, afternoons, some weekends, and holidays.
