Job Summary: The Recreation Club Manager is responsible for overseeing all personnel, concessions, and recreational activities across the pool, tennis, and volleyball facilities at Three Chopt Recreation Club (TCRC). This role ensures the facilities are safe, clean, and inviting, while fostering a positive experience for members and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Personnel Management:
- Hire & supervise swimming instructors, assistant managers, lifeguards, front gate attendants and concession operators.
- Coordinate staff schedules, provide training & evaluation and maintain accurate payroll records.
- Enforce club rules of safety and conduct with a constructive and positive approach.
- Facility and Safety Oversight:
- Ensure the security of the grounds and the proper operation of all facilities.
- Maintain pool filtration systems, monitor water quality (chlorination and pH levels) and manage pool chemicals.
- Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of all pool equipment, furniture, showers, locker rooms, pool office and concession stand.
- Event Coordination:
- Support swim meets, club social events and pool parties.
- Coordinate activities during and outside official club hours.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Register members, process guest charges, and maintain accurate records of attendance, finances and operations.
- Manage concession stand operations, adhering to food safety guidelines of the Virginia Health Department.
- Attend monthly board meetings as a non-voting member.
- Coordinate with the VP of Building & Grounds on maintenance activities and oversee off-season facility care.
- Maintain financial records, ensure timely bank deposits and provide documentation to the Secretary/Treasurer.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current certifications in lifeguarding, first aid, and lifesaving - or willing to be certified
- Certification for Virginia Certified Food Protection Manager-food safety - or willing to be certified
- Knowledge of pool design, maintenance and health regulations.
- Experience in related supervisory roles.
- Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Supervises: Assistant managers, lifeguards, concession staff and front gate attendants.
Additional Requirements::The ideal candidate should be proactive in planning and promoting programs, capable of testing and training staff for competence and enthusiastic in fostering a positive environment for both members and employees.
