The Preschool Assistant Director assists the Director in managing the preschool’s educational programs, staff, and operations. This includes overseeing daily operations, supporting curriculum implementation, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, and creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Leadership: Support the Preschool Director in planning, developing, and executing policies, programs, and curriculum to ensure the center runs smoothly and effectively.
- Staff Supervision: Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising preschool teachers and staff. Provide mentorship and ongoing professional development.
- Curriculum Support: Work alongside the teaching staff to implement developmentally appropriate practices and support the educational needs of each child.
- Classroom Management: Ensure classrooms maintain a positive learning environment. Support teachers with classroom management and providing constructive feedback.
- Regulatory Compliance: Help ensure the preschool is meeting all local, state, and federal regulations for child care centers, including safety and health standards.
- Parent Communication: Foster strong communication with parents through conferences, newsletters, and parent-teacher meetings. Address any concerns or questions from families. Guides tours for new families joining the Academy.
- Administrative Duties: Support with day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining records, handling billing, managing staff schedules, and ensuring the center is adequately staffed.
- Safety and Welfare: Ensure that the school environment is safe and clean. Oversee the well-being of all children under care and respond to any emergencies appropriately.
Qualifications:
- Education: A degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred (Associate’s degree).
- Certifications: CDA is required, Directors Credential is preferred
- Experience: Previous experience working in early childhood education, with some leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of child development and educational standards
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively
- Familiarity with licensing regulations and compliance
- Experience with conflict resolution and problem-solving
Working Conditions:
- This position often involves working closely with children, staff, and parents in a school setting.
- The Assistant Director may need to occasionally work evenings or weekends for meetings or special events.
- The position may also involve some physical activity, such as helping with playground supervision or assisting in emergency situations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,000.00 per year
