General Description:
Under the general direction of the Emergency Department medical director is a licensed provider responsible and accountable to a group of patients for a designated time frame to provide care to patients in collaboration with the health care team. This person demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care relative to the patient(s) under their care, applying principles of growth and development over the life span. This person assesses and interprets patient's data to identify patient's requirements relative to their specific needs.
Provides direct emergency health care services to patients according to the standards of care and evidence-based practice. Identifies and manages acute disease processes according to the standard of care.
Essential Functions:

- Performing comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnose and establish a working diagnosis.
- Formulate a treatment plan for acute problems within the scope of practice.
- Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate.
- Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising emergency department attending physician on duty or other health care professionals.
- Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies. Ordering or performing appropriate interventions to obtain a differential diagnosis.
- Performing procedures as necessary within the scope of practice.
- Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate, and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for emergency department patients, dictate ED provider notes and discharge summaries.
Requirements:
- Advanced Certified Nurse Practitioner from The National Certification Corp. or completed Accredited Physician Assistant program required.
- Current NM license required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) PALS certification required.
- 2 years ED practice experience required.
