Works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, assist in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures as directed. Assist in all treatments including therapeutic exercise, massage, electronic stimulation, thermal modalities, traction and ultrasound. Perform advanced manual skills including joint mobilization, stretching, and taping to carry out PT specific plan of care. PTA will document all progress and modify specific treatments appropriate to patient need based on the scope of treatment established by Physical Therapist, helping people with physical and functional deficits reach their maximum potential of independence.
The incumbent will carry out her/his duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of Three Crosses Regional Hospital. The incumbent will have knowledge of health care systems, and have demonstrated ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce.
Primary Responsibilities
- Implements comprehensive individual and group treatment independently.
- Follows through the established treatment priorities based on the Physical Therapist evaluation results.
- Implements individual and group physical therapy services using effective treatment.
- Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with all patients.
- Demonstrates ability to engage patients in treatment, provides reinforcement and support; sets limits appropriately.
- Issues appropriate assistive devices or durable medical equipment, ensuring that I properly fits the patient.
- Monitors patient response to treatment and progresses treatment program appropriately.
- Adheres to diagnosis-related precautions and demonstrates good judgement handling potential hazardous situations, seeking assistance as necessary.
- Monitors supplies, requesting replacements in a timely manner.
- Supports Physical Therapist in assessing the effectiveness of the treatment plan.
- Documents actual intervention and patient response to treatment as well as progress towards goals.
- Ability to identify need for additional for additional intervention by the Physical Therapist and collaborates with the intervention.
- Discusses patient issues, discharge planning, changes in care plan, and progress towards goals with Physical Therapist.
- Schedules with primary Physical Therapist for re-evaluation in a timely manner and in compliance with department and third party requirements.
- Completes patient care charges timely and accurately.
- Performs job in compliance with Three Crosses policies and procedures, Medicare, CHAP, and Joint Commission standards.
- Attend staff meetings as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Required: Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant Program
- Required: Minimum of 6 months experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant
- Required: Meet all Employee Health Requirement
- Required: Current Physical Therapy Assistant license, registration and or certification as per state regulations.
- Required: BLS Certification
