Hiring Wage Range: $17.00 - $21.00 depending upon experience.
Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of your job position is to coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs, in accordance with the individuals receiving services’ assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by the Licensed Assisted Living Director.
Essential Functions:

Organizational Responsibilities:
- Adhere to, support and promote St. Francis Health Services’ Mission and Core Values, philosophy, goals and objectives while conducting company business.
- Responsible for the delivery of mail to individuals receiving services and update contact labels.
- Mail out invitations to special events and care conferences.
- Train, direct, and provide guidance to volunteers.
Individuals Receiving Services Care Responsibilities:
- Follow the facility infection control policies and other policies during Activity groups/functions.
Individual Responsibilities:
- Perform 1:1 and group activities with individuals receiving services.
- Create monthly Activity Calendar.
- Scheduling of staff or volunteers.
- Scheduling of activities out of the building.
- Conduct Individuals Receiving Services’ (Individual receiving services) Council Meetings.
Safety/AWAIR Responsibilities:
- Attend AWAIR meetings.
- Demonstrate and practice correct sanitation techniques, such as hand washing, proper handling of supplies, cleansing and sanitizing equipment, per policy procedure.
- Participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood/body fluids or hazardous chemicals.
- Use personal protective clothing/devices/equipment when handling infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids.
- Follow established policies and procedures in performance of duties such as safety, infection control and exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Adhere to basic infection control practices and use standard precautions.
- Follow facility' established policies governing safety data sheets (SDS) and the handling of hazardous chemicals. Ensure that hazardous chemicals are labeled. Report missing/illegible labels and SDSs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials and hazardous chemicals to the LALD.
- Follow established safety policies and procedures regarding fire, weather related, and other potential disaster threats to individuals receiving services and staff.
- Know exact location of emergency equipment (e.g., alarms and fire extinguishers).
- Participate in fire safety and disaster preparedness drills.
- Report and/or correct unsafe conditions immediately.
- Promptly report all accidents, errors and unusual incidents to the LALD no matter how minor they may be. Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.
- Utilize proper body mechanics.
- Operate all equipment that is used in the department and social areas accurately and in a safe manner according to established procedures.
- Report defective equipment to the LALD.
Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Complete individuals receiving services’ charting/documentation and other assigned duties.
- Complete individuals receiving services’ activity interviews.
Environmental Responsibilities:
- Keep work area neat, clean, and free from safety issues.
- Keep work areas free of hazardous objects, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.
Attendance:
- Attend departmental meetings as directed. Schedules/leads meetings.
- Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, workshops, seminars, etc. as directed.
- Give adequate notice to the LALD when absent from work.
Education and Experience:
- Must be knowledgeable of AHS’ HIPAA Policy/Procedures.
- Must be knowledgeable of computer systems, system applications, and other office equipment.
Specific Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language while conducting company business.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must be knowledgeable of reimbursement regulations and using department funds
- Must be able to communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc., to personnel, individuals receiving services, family members, visitors, and government agencies/personnel.
- Must demonstrate organizational awareness and commitment.
- Must demonstrate dependability and be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle individuals receiving services on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
- Must possess the willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must adhere to the Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program Code of Conduct.
- Must adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Must maintain confidentiality of company and individuals receiving services’ information at all times.
- Ensure that the individual receiving services’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civic rights, including the right to express complaints, are well established and maintained at all times.
- Be organized and prepared to handle changes with programing.
- Must possess the ability to relate information concerning an individual receiving services’ condition.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of self or other individuals in the workplace.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with company policies/procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines governing personnel administration.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
- Must possess the ability to create a spirit of cooperation and teamwork while leading others.
- Set positive, attainable expectations, objectives and goals for others.
- Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver's License.
