Position: Sales and Events Manager
Job Summary: The Sales and Events Manager is an experienced professional with the ability to manage the entire lifecycle of all public and private events at our Three Notch’d locations. This role will be responsible for selling, coordinating, implementing, and executing events that range from 15-500 that support the growth and objectives of the organization. This individual must be a highly motivated and organized person with strong project management, administrative and event experience.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Event Sales
- Track and respond to all incoming leads in a timely manner within our software platform
- Generate leads and new business through networking, referrals, internet searches, telephone and email solicitations, prospecting, mailings, trade shows, professional and community organizations
- Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts
- Conducts customer site inspections
- Accurately sells within approved guidelines and sales strategies
- Recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue opportunities by up-selling and offering enhancements
- Conducts S.W.O.T analysis of competitors
- Responsible for achieving personal and property revenue goals
Event Planning
- Assists the client in menu planning, coordinates food, beverage, room set-up, decorations and other services as requested by the client
- Details banquet event orders in a timely manner to the Front and Back of House teams and ensures that they are accurate and all requirements are communicated and completed to the client’s specifications
- Leads the weekly event team meeting to review all banquet event orders for the next week
- Coordinates with Front of House management to ensure appropriate staffing levels for events
- Creates diagrams for events that have special room set ups
- Responsible for collecting and properly recording event deposits and final payment
- Responsible for the organization and cleanliness of all event storage areas and equipment
- Assists the Senior Sales and Events Manager to ensure Tripleseat is updated and accurately representing booked business and forecasted revenue
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Event Execution
- Function as the on-site contact to client for all aspects of their events
- Manage, monitor and attend events and assist with set up
- Supervise the set-up of all events to include placement of buffet labels, linens, silver, china, glassware and chafing dishes according to the banquet event order specifications
- Visually inspect event set up and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness, proper inventory, and set up
- Coordinates with the Front of House and Back of House team and customer to ensure consistent, high level service throughout pre-event, event and post-event phases of events
- Identifies operational challenges associated with his/her group and determines how to best work with the front of house and back of house team and customer to solve these challenges and or develop alternative solutions
- Conducts bill reviews with the clients upon request
- Closes out all events in a timely manner
- Follows up with customer post-event
- Inputs all event charges into Toast and verifies billing accuracy in Toast and Tripleseat
- Assists accounting with reconciling event deposits
- Must be onsite for all buyouts
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises employees who are working public and private events in the location.
Expectations & Weekly Schedule
- The Sales and Event Manager is the key customer contact, they must be available to work on-site for the majority of the events. Schedule to be determined on a bi-weekly basis and coverage determined at that time.
- Days & times worked during the week vary based on the local event schedule. Event Managers most often work Tuesday-Saturday, with their “weekend” falling on Sunday and Monday. As schedules vary the specific days off per week might as well, and in some cases, days off might not be consecutive.
- The Sales and Event Manager will work with Front of House leadership to ensure coverage of events on their approved “weekend” days or pre-planned personal time off/vacation.
- This position works on-premise at our Charlottesville location.
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years relevant experience in event planning
- 1 year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends
- Must be able to be onsite for the majority of events
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the craft beer industry
- Experience with restaurant management software such as Triple Seat and Toast Point of Sale
- Event sales experience
Work Environment:

Travel Requirements:
Moderate travel (<25%-40%) within the state of Virginia to support events at all Three Notch’d Brewing retail locations.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee will be regularly required to endure on a daily basis, walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, and crouching. The position also requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds or stand on a step ladder as necessary.
