What is the Pet Peace of Mind Program?
Our program is dedicated to helping hospice patients keep their furry companions close by, even during the most challenging times. Pets are family, and your support as a volunteer ensures that bond remains unbroken.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
* Walk, feed, and care for pets when patients are unable to.
* Take pets to vet or grooming appointments.
* Provide temporary foster care for pets when needed (this is rare).
* Assist in finding loving homes for pets when rehoming is the best option.

What’s Required?
Don’t worry—no special certifications are needed! We provide the training you need to succeed, including:
✅ Comprehensive hospice volunteer training.
✅ A program-specific orientation for Pet Peace of Mind.
All volunteers must complete a background check and TB test (we’ll guide you through the process and all things are provided/completed by Three Oaks Hospice)
Preferred (but not required) Skills:
- Experience caring for animals (personal or professional).
- Comfort with pets of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
- Access to reliable transportation for vet visits and errands (rare)
This is a Volunteer Role (Non-Paid Position)
Your time and effort will bring peace of mind to patients and ensure their beloved pets are well cared for.
