The Environmental Services Technician Lead (EVS Tech Lead) is responsible for overseeing and guiding the Environmental Services (EVS) team in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards across the casino property.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads, trains, and motivates a team of EVS attendants to ensure cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Assigns daily duties and responsibilities, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of all casino areas, including gaming floors, restrooms, lobbies, and staff areas.
- Monitors and evaluates team performance, providing constructive feedback and addressing performance concerns as needed.
- Ensures the team properly uses cleaning equipment and supplies, maintains stock levels, and organizes supplies for effective operation.
- Ensures all casino areas, including floors, carpets, windows, restrooms, walls, and furnishings, are cleaned to meet health and safety standards.
- Oversees deep cleaning projects and routine cleaning schedules, ensuring that public areas, gaming floors, and back-of-house areas are spotless.
- Regularly inspects the cleanliness of all areas, including high-traffic and high-touch surfaces, ensuring compliance with company and health guidelines.
- Ensures all cleaning procedures comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and cleaning protocols.
- Maintains a safe working environment for EVS staff, ensuring adherence to workplace safety guidelines and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conducts regular safety checks, ensuring that chemicals and cleaning agents are properly labeled, stored, and used according to safety protocols.
- Reports any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or violations to the EVS Supervisor/Manager.
- Trains new EVS staff on casino-specific cleaning standards, equipment usage, and health and safety procedures.
- Provides ongoing training to ensure the team stays updated on best practices in sanitation, cleaning techniques, and regulatory changes.
- Encourages team development by fostering an environment of open communication, cooperation, and professionalism.
- Coordinates with other departments (e.g., security, maintenance, food and beverage) to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
- Addresses any issues or complaints related to cleanliness promptly and ensures they are resolved to the satisfaction of guests and management.
- Oversees the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and orders are placed in a timely manner.
- Maintains records of cleaning products, equipment usage, and supplies to track costs and ensure efficient use.
- Ensures proper maintenance and repair of cleaning equipment, coordinating with the maintenance team for any needed repairs.
- Ensures that the EVS team delivers excellent customer service and provides a friendly and professional presence in all areas of the casino.
- Interacts with guests as needed, responding to questions or concerns related to cleanliness and the casino's overall environment.
- Other duties as directed by management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, Team Members may be exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke, including regular exposure for those working on the casino floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can occasionally reach a high level for short periods of time. This position is determined to have a potential for possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens and cleaning chemicals and fumes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to carry, reach, twist, bend, and squat frequently.
- Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance as needed.

Requirements:EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND ELIGIBILITY
- Minimum age requirement for this position is 21 years old.
- Must have 2 years of experience in environmental/janitorial services or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must understand & follow OSHA rules and regulations on safe chemical use.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, in writing or by other acceptable means.
- Comply with pre-employment, random and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.
- Receive and maintain a valid gaming license from the CTCLUSI Tribal Gaming Commission.
- Availability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays based on the needs of the department and for special casino events.
