Primary Responsibility:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee our maintenance operations. The Fleet Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the upkeep and functionality of our fleet and equipment. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and organizational skills to effectively manage maintenance activities and ensure operational efficiency. Position is responsible for ensuring that servicing and repairs meet the manufacturer, Georgia Department of Human Services, US Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit administration’s guidelines/regulations and recommended practices; plans, organizes and supervises the maintenance and repairs of all vehicles in service area; assists with compliance of State, Federal and local environmental and facility safety programs; assists in the development of short- and long-term fleet and facilities goals; and assists in budget development.
Summary of Duties:
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for the fleet to ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements.
- Work within TRRC’s procurement requirements to develop agreements with local certified maintenance vendors.
- Coordinate with dispatch departments to schedule maintenance activities while minimizing disruptions to vehicle availability.
- Prioritize maintenance tasks based on vehicle usage, mileage, and criticality to ensure timely and efficient repairs.
- Track the age and mileage of vehicles and give input on capital planning for vehicle replacement.
- Complete the agency’s pre-delivery inspections for all purchased vehicles.
- Traveling to various counties and fleet locations to complete routine inspections or to coordinate fleet repairs.
- Schedule routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and calibration to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and equipment performance.
- Track and maintain pre-trip inspection reports.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and equipment failures, troubleshooting issues to identify root causes.
- Develop effective solutions to resolve technical problems and prevent recurrence.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to optimize maintenance spending without compromising quality or safety.
- Updates and assists in the enforcement of the Three Rivers Transit Maintenance Plan.
- Work with agency staff in accident investigations and serve on the agency’s safety committee.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or other management.
