Social Worker MSW - Mental Health Unit
Full-Time Position
Monday - Friday (8am - 4pm) and every other Saturday
Job Summary:
- Assess the emotional, psychological and physical needs of the patient to understand what they require and how the social worker can support them
- Interview patient and their family member(s) to coordinate and develop care plans that meet the social and emotional needs of the individual
- Advocate for the patient's needs and ensure the medical system respects their rights and caters to their preferences
- Help to reduce barriers between the various parties involved in patient care, such as medical staff, patients and their families, by facilitating communication
- Provide crisis intervention and assist families in understanding the implications and complexities of the medical situation and its impact on lifestyle
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work required (MSW)
- 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Mental health / psychiatric experience preferred
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
- Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patient, guest, physicians, and other employees
