General Description/Position Summary
Responsible for performing diversified building maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing, carpentry, etc.) Maintains systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. Perform general cleaning.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, etc.).
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance of facility.
- Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
- Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, parking lots, and other work areas.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Order parts and maintain required documents
- Able to create & complete facility work orders in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance for multiple inspections and reviews for the facilities: AIB-Food Safety, USDA, SNHD, Feeding America, Annual Inventory and TEFAP. This is achieved through working with the Facilities Maintenance Manager & Director of Operations, Operations Logistics Manager, Warehouse Manager and other departments on all trainings, facility needs, documentation, GMP’s & processes to support of compliance for these and all related audits
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years working in facility maintenance.
- Understanding of HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently.
- Ability to use common tools.
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing. The employee may lift and/or move items over 100 pounds. Work is performed in warehouse with a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. There will be a need to use ladders, material handling equipment such as powered pallet jacks, forklifts & scissor lifts or get lifted up with a forklift person cage to assess items & make repairs. Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot, and during the winter very cold. Employee may be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature. Workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building. Periodically may work outside and be exposed to the elements. Working at varying heights & potential small spaces are included.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am- 5 pm. May work evenings and weekends due to special events and other projects.
