We are seeking a Product Data Specialist & Marketing Coordinator to support our growing content and product data needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone detail-oriented and passionate about books, metadata management, and digital marketing. You will help maintain and improve the accuracy of our book catalog while also contributing to the ThriftBooks marketing efforts, including blog content creation and coordination.
This position is a full-time temporary assignment, with an optional summer internship track for candidates looking to gain hands-on experience.
WHAT YOU WILL DO AS A PRODUCT DATA SPECIALIST:
- Data Accuracy & Maintenance: Review, correct, and update book listings to ensure precise product details, including titles, authors, editions, ISBNs, and categories.
- Metadata Optimization: Ensure book metadata (keywords, descriptions, genres, and tags) is complete and optimized for searchability.
- Quality Assurance: Identify and resolve product issues such as duplicate listings, incorrect book descriptions, missing or inaccurate images, and misclassified genres.
- Product Image Management: Source, verify, and update book cover images to ensure high-quality, properly formatted visuals that align with publisher standards.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with publishers, suppliers, and internal teams to correct data discrepancies and improve catalog consistency.
- Data Integrity Monitoring: Regularly audit the online catalog to prevent and correct errors, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Customer-Focused Fixes: Investigate and resolve customer-reported issues regarding book data inconsistencies or missing information.
WHAT YOU WILL DO AS A MARKETING COORDINATOR:
- Product Data & Content Management: Learn product data correction to ensure accurate listings and site presentation.
- Blog Coordination: Schedule and publish blogs, including coordinating with designers for visuals and social media assets.
- Site Content Updates: Maintain site features like the New York Times Best Seller list.
- Landing Page Management: Learn how to create and update simple landing pages, such as Indie Next or Book Clubs, to support marketing initiatives.
- Internal Tool Expertise: Become proficient in ThriftBooks’ internal content tools to optimize marketing efforts and enhance customer engagement.
WHAT EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED:
- 1–3 years of experience in data management, content coordination, digital marketing, or publishing.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with product data systems, CMS platforms, or e-commerce platforms.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and content management tools.
- Familiarity with SEO, metadata optimization, and book publishing standards (ISBNs, BISAC codes, etc.).
- Writing and proofreading experience, preferably with blog or marketing content.
- Basic HTML knowledge for formatting descriptions is a plus.

BASE WAGE: $21.10/hr. This reflects the good-faith hiring base rate for this position. However, individual rates are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, experience, and education/training.
LOCATION: This is a hybrid, work-from-home and in-person position located in Tukwila, Washington. Applicants must be within commuting distance of Tukwila.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS: This is a full-time, hourly position. It is a temporary assignment that is expected to last 3-6 months.
