The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the finance department, with primary focus on billing and accounts receivable. This role is essential to ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of our billing processes and customer account management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for providing excellent internal and external customer service. This role is based in our corporate office, located in Winston-Salem, NC, with hybrid work flexibility. This role reports to the Controller.
Responsibilities:

Prepare and issue accurate and timely invoices to clients in accordance with contractual terms.

Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up with customers on overdue accounts.

Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies or payment issues.

Work closely with sales, customer service, and other departments to ensure billing accuracy.

Apply customer payments, credit memos, and adjustments in the accounting system.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records and documentation.

Support month-end closing activities related to A/R, including journal entries and reconciliations.

Generate and analyze A/R reports to identify trends, risks, or opportunities for process improvements.

Assist with internal and external audits related to billing and receivables.

Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards (GAAP).

Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting as needed.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Controller.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 2 years of previous accounting experience, with billing and/or A/R preferred
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting a plus
- Prior experience with MatrixCare a plus
- Prior ADP experience a plus
- Prior experience with Concur a plus
