Responsibilities: As a front desk receptionist, you will play a significant part in creating an excellent experience for our patients and their families as you are the first face they see when walking into our clinic. You will collaborate directly with the physicians and clinical staff to take care of the patients’ essential administrative needs.
In this position, you will be responsible for several duties, including but not limited to; Greeting patients and visitors in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Optimizing patients’ satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appropriate appointments in person or by telephone.
Obtaining patient information and inputting it correctly into our electronic medical record program.
Obtaining accurate insurance information and running verification.
Collecting and processing payments at the time of service.
Keeping patient appointments on schedule by notifying the provider of the patient’s arrival and notifying the patient if there are to be any delays.
Maintaining patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Maintaining the operations of the clinic by following policies and procedures. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing other related tasks as needed.
General requirements and skill set:
High school diploma/GED
Displays professionalism
Ability to handle a fast-paced environment by portraying strong multi-tasking skills Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities and complete duties within the allotted time.
Willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
Ability to work effectively with patients and co-workers.
Provides consistency and timeliness in attendance.
Familiarity with Microsoft office software.
Willingness to be cross-trained in different tasks and aspects of the clinic.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior work experience in a medical clinic with responsibilities related to scheduling and medical records.
Experience working within the Athena Electronic Health Record system.
Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking
Position Environment
Requires standing and sitting for long periods. Work is performed in an office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Use of telephone is required. Manual dexterity required for use computer keyboard. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
