The Risk Governance and Oversight Lead of Thrivent Bank is responsible for executing and overseeing the Bank’s third-party risk management program with respect to approximately 100 vendor relationships, overseeing enterprise governance routines including the assurance that documents are complete and accurate, supporting regulatory examinations as the central point of contact, and for monitoring the Bank’s compliance with 23A/B.

  • This position is hybrid .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee enterprise governing documentation processes; templates, inventory, retention, and schedules ensuring that all charters, policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards are complete and accurate.
  • Reviews, communicates, and recommends the development of governance policies and procedures in partnership with senior leaders to ensure appropriateness and adequacy versus industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to business management and functional leaders on enterprise governance requirements and best practices.
  • Oversee third-party risk assessment/re-assessment tasks, overall responsibility for adherence with regulatory expectations for vendors, partners, and supplier due diligence and periodic reviews.
  • Responsible for third party portfolio risk profile, adherence with risk management policy and procedure, escalating issues related to vendor management and interface with senior leaders to help them understand, improve, and insulate the bank from intolerable risks.
  • Manage regulatory exams, taking lead prior to, during and after in partnership with a broad range of cross functional teams.
  • Maintain a centralized repository with all regulatory exam schedules/status, examination requests and management responses.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding examinations status and issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulators, always demonstrating a culture of compliance, transparency, and building credibility through the proactive management of regulatory relationships.
  • Routinely assess the examination exam process and make improvements to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with senior leaders to maintain current and tested business continuity plans, develop and lead required necessary training sessions and exercises.
  • Monitor adherence to policies and procedures and establish a model for continuous improvement.
  • Provide oversight of affiliate transaction, monitoring service levels and agreements for compliance and adherence while ensuring collateral requirements and quantitative limits are not breached.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business management, or related field. Advanced degree desirable, master’s degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in enterprise risk management, compliance, internal audit, or related field with experience in risk assessment, and risk mitigation.
  • Advanced understanding of enterprise risk frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience in vendor management , in a financial services institution preferred.
  • Experience working within the Business Continuity and Incident Management domains.
  • Experience with regulatory affairs, regulatory relations, or regulatory examination management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and inquiries with strict deadlines.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; delivers high quality written messages; capable of conveying risk concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and communicate observations to senior executives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong ethical values and a commitment to promoting a culture of risk awareness and accountability.
  • Experience with risk management software and tools.

Preferred:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Regulatory Vendor Program Manager (CRVPM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)and/or Certified Business continuity Professional (CBCP)

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $118,105.00 - $159,788.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
