Thriving Mind South Florida is seeking a Vice President of Behavioral Health Services. This position leads and oversees the System of Care Programming within the organization. This role involves managing and directing behavioral health programs, ensuring effective coordination and efficiency across various service delivery aspects. The Vice President will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborate with the Programmatic, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Fiscal, Contracts and Data Departments to ensure smooth operations.

The Vice President of Behavioral Health Services develops, implements, and manages operational strategies for Thriving Mind’s System of Care Departments. The Vice President of Behavioral Health assists Thriving Mind Executive Management Team and its Board of Directors in carrying out the strategic plans to ensure a comprehensive, collaborative co-occurring system of care that is recovery oriented and transparent. The system of care should be innovative, fiscally responsible and demonstrate the following values: Recovery based; individually focused and consumer/family driven; Community- based; and Cultural and linguistic responsive.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Vice President of Behavioral Health Services is responsible for the following duties, along with any other work-related tasks assigned:

  • Directs and coordinates System of Care (SOC) Activities for Thriving Mind:
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs behavioral health program delivery.
  • Advise management staff on strategic developments and key planning issues related to service delivery.
  • Make recommendations on resource allocations among divisions.
  • Participate in on-site reviews of regional programs as needed.
  • Consult with staff to identify concerns and develop potential solutions.
  • Advise management on programmatic issues and policy matters.
  • Evaluate programs and provide technical assistance as necessary.
  • Assist in the development of programmatic budgets.
  • Keep Executive Management informed of subcontractor programmatic status.
  • Manage the programmatic aspects of service delivery system.
  • Review subcontractor deliverables across the system of care.
  • Provide leadership, support and guidance for the system of care.
  • Supervise program delivery and assess consumer needs.
  • Network with local, state and national agencies for program development.
  • Direct regional utilization management for all service area divisions.
  • Oversee regional Adult System of Care (ASOC), Children System of Care (CSOC), Care Coordination, Peer Services, Child Welfare Integration, and Prevention operations
  • Manage law enforcement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to consumer and peer services.
  • Represent the organization at workshops, on task forces and at various planning meetings, as requested.
  • Provide regular reports to Thriving Mind Management and Board regarding SOC activities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state regulations to ensure program compliance.
  • Clinical Policies and Planning:
  • Develop policies and procedures for the programmatic service delivery continuum.
  • Communicate policies and updates to all program staff and subcontracted providers.
  • Assist leadership in planning and recommending organizational clinical policies and procedures.

3. Quality Assurance Practices:

  • Assist the Vice President of CQI in planning and recommending quality assurance practices.
  • Identify needs and provide guidance in monitoring of clinical programs to ensure the delivery of quality care and support services.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of the Adult System of Care, Children System of Care, Care Coordination, Child Welfare Integration, Prevention and Peer Services Departments.
  • Provide direct oversight to Adult, Children’s, Prevention and Peer Services and Managers.
  • Other Duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the organization's needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There will be supervision of others in this position.

CONFIDENTIALITY: Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of consumers, the organization and/or employees. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary consumer identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and only for authorized purposes.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Five years experience in Behavioral Health or related field, with a strong understanding of community resources. Proven ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to inform decision-making.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Master’s Degree required from an accredited institution. Licensed preferred. A minimum of three years’ supervisory experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

FINANCIAL SKILLS: Ability to administer multiple contracts and work effectively with auditors.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical data/instructions in mathematical/diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to travel to various meeting/conferences for the agency. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with peers and management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
