Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Assistant Teacher to support classroom activities and contribute to the success of our educational programs. The Assistant Teacher will work collaboratively with the Daycare Teacher [Associate and/or Lead] to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for children that encourages growth and development. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about fostering a positive learning atmosphere and are comfortable flexing to support different classrooms as needed.
Responsibilities may include:
- Classroom Support & Instruction: Assist in planning and implementing educational activities and routines that align with the developmental needs of children. Actively engage with and oversee children in learning and play to support their social, emotional, and cognitive development. Provide support during group and individual activities, stepping in to lead as needed.
- Child Supervision & Care: Maintain the safety and well-being of children by monitoring classroom activities and ensuring children are always within sight and sound of staff. Support routines such as meals, naptime, and transitions with care and attention.
- Behavior Management & Guidance: Assist in promoting positive behavior and addressing behavioral challenges in alignment with classroom management strategies. Foster an environment of kindness, respect, and cooperation among children.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with the Lead Teacher and other staff members to achieve classroom and organizational goals.Share ideas and participate actively in team meetings and training.
- Assessment & Documentation: Observe and record children’s developmental progress as directed by the Lead Teacher. Provide input to parents and guardians regarding their child’s activities and growth.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and secure classroom environment. Support the implementation of emergency procedures and first aid when necessary.
- Professional Growth: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift children, assist with physical activities, and engage in activities such as bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.

PAY: Commensurate with market rate and experience of candidate.
HOURS: full time, 40 hours per week; part-time at least 20 hours per week available
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Experience with children in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood setting is preferred but not required for entry-level candidates.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Other certifications related to early childhood education are a plus.
