Position Description

PROG Development Center Program Specialist - – Part-time Hybrid

The AmeriCorps member in this role will serve as the PROG Development Center Program Specialist serving with the PROG Foundation. We are seeking a dynamic, organized, self- motivated, and culturally competent Development Center Program Specialist willing to commit 25 hours a week to help the organization accomplish its mission. The AmeriCorps members will be working with youth and adults, accredited higher education institutions, and business entities. This individual will work directly with the program manager, program partners, and core volunteer leadership to enable consistently high-quality experiences, and they will be essential to the success and participation of this growing volunteer organization. Service Term and Benefits

This is an AmeriCorps position. AmeriCorps is a unique service opportunity. AmeriCorps members complete a term of service from April 2025 through November 2025. Members will serve a minimum 675 hours during this time, approximately 25 hours per week over 7 months AmeriCorps members will receive a living allowance of $9,280 during their term of service. This living allowance will be paid bi-weekly. Additionally, upon successful completion of a term of service, AmeriCorps members will receive an education award of $2,817.14

About the Organizations

PROG Development Center has a vision to bring together technology, education, community, and government partnerships that aim to provide youth in the Greater West Valley City area the ability to enhance socio-economic opportunity. The PROG Development Center accomplishes this by providing academic support, workplace readiness training, access to technology certifications, guidance on college preparedness and completion, and placement in competitive internships or careers. There are also opportunities for mentorship, career coaching, and comprehensive support to participants and alumni to foster and grow professional relationships.

Thriving Utah is an AmeriCorps State program designed to support local nonprofits and public agencies in increasing their organizational capacity. Thriving Utah AmeriCorps members create and execute a capacity building plan tailored to their organization’s needs, services, and goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of program plans, goals, and objectives
  • Coordinate the implementation and roll out of program materials and resources, including program manuals, participant guides, and training materials
  • Coordinate and support program activities, including recruitment, training sessions, workshops, and meetings
  • Provide targeted support in one of the following programming areas Certificates and careers programming
  • Provide workshop, course, and programming support to instructors and youth.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to program participants, including troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Coordinate program evaluations and assessments to ensure program effectiveness
  • Collaborate with team members to identify areas for program improvement and implement changes as needed
  • Maintain program data and records, including participant information, program expenses, and program outcomes
  • Support program reporting and communication efforts, including drafting reports, summaries, and program updates
  • Will need to hold weekly office hours and be responsible for opening/closing the center at times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Preference of a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., education, social work, psychology, etc.) or 3 years of experience in program coordination, preferably in an education or a non profit setting

Possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to drive for programming needs. Mileage reimbursement included
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, online white boards, project management software
  • Must be a self-starter, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision
