AIRCRAFT LIAISON ENGINEER
Position Overview
The Aircraft Liaison Engineer is responsible for performing repair or modification design, conducting engineering analysis, and developing essential technical documents including repair approvals, drawings, reports, and specifications. This role is crucial in supporting growth through business development activities and continuous improvement initiatives. The Specialist will also provide support to coordinate with internal departments and manage customer relationships to ensure the highest quality of product support and service.
Reports To: Director of Engineering
Key Responsibilities
Repair Design and Engineering Analysis (85%):
- Perform repair or modification design and engineering analysis.
- Develop technical documents, such as repair approvals, drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Coordinate and support manufacturing activities and interactions with internal departments (Fabrication, Manufacturing, Production).
- Develop documentation for certification and customer activities.
Business Development (5%):
- Identify and develop opportunities for business growth and revenue generation.
Standards Development and Continuous Improvement (5%):
- Identify and recommend areas for process improvement.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Customer Coordination and Management (5%):
- Coordinate and manage activities related to customer relationships and product support.
Qualifications
Education:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, and two years of relevant Engineering experience.
Experience:
- Minimum two years of relevant experience within the aviation industry (e.g., airline, OEM, or MRO).
Skills:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
- Proficiency in Solidworks or similar desktop Parametric CAD application.
Certifications:
- Preferred FAA DER.
Regulations and Compliance:
- Must maintain a working knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations (e.g., 14 CFR Parts 21, 23, 25, 26, 43, and 91).
- Awareness of and compliance with Airworthiness Directives (AD), Service Bulletins (SB), and other FAA and OEM documentation.
Travel Requirements:
- Infrequent travel based on customer and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA DER (Designated Engineering Representative).
- Management training or experience.
