Position Summary
The Bartender is responsible for properly preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to casino guests. Must verify that all guests requesting alcoholic beverages are of legal age by checking proper identification at all times. The Bartender will be required at all times to follow proper policies and procedures for serving alcoholic drinks in accordance with all state and federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol (ABLE) laws. The Bartender must possess exceptional customer service skills and professional demeanor towards both guests and co-workers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure safety and cleanliness at all times
- Must provide a high level of customer service to all guests
- Serve guests drinks, collect payments and operate a cash register
- Prepare drinks from recipes
- Ability to handle and count money and credit card transactions
- Ensure proper and legal serving of alcoholic drinks
- Clean equipment and work areas
- Stock work area
- Ability to handle fast paced areas
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk the casino floor as needed
- Must be able to identify intoxicated guests and cutoff as needed
- Must abide by responsible serving and ABLE laws
- Complete end of shift paperwork
- Wash glasses, wipe counters, clean ashtrays and pull trash
- Perform other duties as assigned
Equipment used:
- Food slicers, dishwasher, cash register, computer, credit card machine.
Qualifications
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; skill in working in an environment subject to constant interruptions and quickly changing priorities; ability to prioritize; effective time-management skills.
- Knowledge of Tribal/State/Federal laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, Board members, and the public, both in person and through phone, e-mail and written correspondence.
- Ability to learn quickly, self-leader with initiative, highly flexible and comfortable in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to handle large sums of money.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge and ability to use cash registers and credit card machines.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No supervisory responsibility for Food and Beverage team members.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, employees must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- Exposure to smoking and secondhand smoke.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
- Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- 2-3 years of prior bar experience preferred.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and obtain a key gaming license.
- Must hold current liquor license or ability to obtain one within 10 days of employment.
