Management in Training (MIT)
This is an entry-level management role in a production environment. Candidate will be exposed to all facets of a manufacturing operation, including but not limited to production, shipping and receiving, quality control, scheduling, safety, etc.
Metals, manufacturing/production, or machining experience is preferred. Depending on fit, skill set, and business need, successful candidate will grow into a Supervisory role or Administrative position at Thunderbird.
Manufacturing Assistant Essential Functions
- Report to Production Manager and help ensure the safe and efficient operation of Production.
- Maintains records, files, and other documentation pertinent to assignments.
- Follow up on corrective actions, process changes, new machines, and tooling for implementation and effectiveness.
- Manage special assignment projects and other related duties.
- Attend meetings, calls and training sessions related to Production, Customers, and Vendors.
- Supervise Departments and Areas on a fill in basis to cover for illness, vacation, etc.
Manufacturing Assistant Required Skills/Experience
- Degree in Production, Operations, Management or equivalent experience of 5 years in Manufacturing field.
- Excellent Computer skills
- Good analytical skills applicable to problem solving.
- Understanding of quality control tools such as SPC.
- Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with a high level of self-motivation.
- Possess great time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple start-up projects.
- Demonstrated superior communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and organizational skills..
- Must be willing to work overtime or on alternate shifts as needed to meet production requirements.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.
- Ability to use hand tools.
- Ability to read applicable instructions.
