General Responsibilities:
Performs dental measures designed to preserve teeth and prevent the spread of oral diseases.
Required Qualifications:
B.A. Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene
Must have a Registered Dental Hygienist license
BLS Certification
Effective in working with pediatric patients
Ability to handle confidential material
Ability to work independently
Ability to provide services in non-traditional school and community-based settings
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates who do not meet all the preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Significant Job Functions:
Educates patients in dental oral hygiene
Cleans calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath gums
Visually examines gums for signs of disease
Applies fluoride and other cavity preventing agents
Demonstrates and develops x-ray film
Makes impressions, removes sutures and dressings
Administers local anesthetic agents
Provides sealants
Responsible for infection control, including cleaning instruments and equipment
Documents in patient chart visit notes
Completes referrals to community providers
Provides written notes to parents on services provided
Completes encounter forms
Physical Effort/Environment:
The duties of this position are performed at a Thundermist location.
This position requires the use of finger and hand manipulation while using instruments.
May lift up to 25 pounds of dental equipment.
Work Schedule Demands:
Full-time or Part-Time work schedule as determines upon hire.
Communication Skills:
This position requires the ability to verbally communicate with patients and others effectively and have excellent written skills.
