What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Liaison - CDL Driver position at Thurston County Food Bank?
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the coordination of the Thurston County Food Bank’s deliveries to Partner Organizations, as well as inventory control of federal commodities programs and other products.
Primary responsibilities include facilitating contract deliverables for the Partner Program, maintenance of vehicles requiring CDL, creating and maintaining fleet transport schedule, tracking of Food Bank inventory distribution, and federal food deliveries.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Acts as a liaison between the Food Bank and regional distribution sites. Ensures sites have access to resources, training, and tools to maintain contract compliance.
- Create and maintain a digital fleet transport schedule.
- Works to maintain and grow relationships with community partners.
- Backup to Contracts Manager in monitoring all product levels of Federal foods, and support of monthly distributions for all contracts.
- Prepare reports for Partner Program as required by the supervisor.
- In coordination with the supervisor, identify and implement product rotation procedures.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance of large trucks and maintain records for DOL. Maintain commercial transportation vehicles to stay in compliance with the Departments of Licensing and Transportation regulations.
- Coordinate outgoing deliveries with the supervisor.
- Additional point of contact for completion of estimates, bids, billing, and all other contractor relations.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance for the organizational fleet not assigned to a driver, such as record keeping, charging battery cells, scheduling maintenance of vehicles with contractors, and road-ready safety checks.
- Provide backup as needed for other Food Bank staff.
- Serve as an active Food Bank staff member, including participation in meetings, training, fundraising efforts, and other planned activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Current Commercial Drivers License (w/valid Medical Examiner's Certificate) and experience operating class B.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Two (2) years of warehouse experience including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
- Washington State Driver’s License and reliable transportation to be used on the job.
- Have the knowledge of and the ability to work with our client base.

- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to understand and apply the philosophy and mission of the Thurston County Food Bank.
- Ability to maintain inventory control
- Ability to maintain flexible work hours to accommodate meeting schedules, staff training, and other agency-related.
- Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain one within 30 days
COMPUTER/TECHNOLOGY SKILLS/EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE SKILLS:
- Demonstrates ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
- Computer literacy including the use of word processing
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Manual dexterity and physical ability to perform tasks (i.e. repeated living up to 50 pounds, continual standing on cement floors, reaching, bending, and walking). Nature of work requires an ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents operating standard business office equipment and software. Travel by automobile is required for position responsibilities and/or training.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Full-time: 40 hours per week
- Salary: $27.60 - $30.16/hourly starting wage (d.o.e.), $27.60 - $38.20 hourly full salary range (svc yr based)
