What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Lunch Activities Lead position at Thurston County Food Bank?
Post open until 05/02/25
2.5 MONTH TEMPORARY POSITION
30 HOURS PER WEEK
Monday-Friday from 8:30am-3pm
At the Thurston County Food Bank, we provide essential food and resources to the community in the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor. One of our core philosophies is prioritizing children because every child deserves access to healthy meals every day to grow, learn, and thrive. Over 40% of the individuals we serve are children. Through our Summer Lunch Program, we are able to provide nutritious, fresh meals to children. Last year, our Summer Lunch Program served 3,702 meals to children at 7 community sites!
Accessing meals during summer break can be challenging for families with children and teens who rely on school meals during the school year. In partnership with the federal Summer Food Service Program, our Summer Lunch Program steps in to help bridge this meal gap. During the summer, we prepare freshly made meals at our Olympia Food Pantry, and serve them at no charge to children at various apartment complexes. In addition to free meals, we offer engaging activities to help boost participation in the program.
