The salary for this position is : $5,247 - $6,979 monthly.Thurston County District Court is seeking a highly motivated, professional, and positive candidate for the position of Care Coordinator of our Mental Health and Veterans Courts (MHVC). The Care Coordinator is the primary support and advocate for participants of the MHVC court program, actively engaging with and supervising participants that have been diagnosed with a mental illness and charged with a criminal offense(s). This opportunity allows for positive and progressive approaches and services to therapeutic intervention, counseling, and personal development for each person who may enter the program, providing a path of stability and accountability for participants.Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Responsible for assisting participants in navigating and addressing life domain issues including housing, employment, education, transportation, finances, childcare, Department of Licensing requirements, understanding of court orders, addressing long-standing negative behavioral patterns, and encouraging and guiding participants in long-term goal setting and completion.
  • Engage in regular multi-disciplinary staff meetings, to include deputy prosecutors, attorneys, court staff, judicial officers, advocates, and community partners to advise of individual participant progress and make therapeutic recommendations.
  • Understand and address areas of compliance, progress, and provide direction to participants and recommendations to the court on next steps regarding court participation.
  • Establish effective lines of cooperation and coordination with community treatment providers and family members to create an essential supervision and support model for the caseload.
  • Assesses compliance with participants' individualized treatment programs, and coordinates with and provides referrals to community treatment providers and other resources in order to address individual needs.

  • Work Environment : Work is performed in office, community, and corrections environments, engaging in both team and individualized roles providing for professional collaboration with the court and multi-disciplinary teams, justice partners, community stakeholders, and treatment agencies.
  • Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. Workload demands may occasionally require work outside the assigned work hours.
  • Travel Requirements : Travel is required to attend meetings and trainings, and to engage with program participants.
  • Customer Interactions : Daily interactions via phone, in-person, and video with participants, MHVC and multi-disciplinary team members, justice partners, community stakeholders, and treatment agencies.WHO WE ARE : District Court serves the community of Thurston County as a court of limited jurisdiction.   • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in psychology, criminal justice, social work or related field. Master's degree is desired.
  • Two years of experience in working with the mentally ill population, including the ability to assess clients and work with them to formulate supervision plans to meet individual needs.
  • Understanding of the DSM-V and current working diagnosis / diagnoses to ensure appropriate mental health to promote best outcome for participant.
  • Certification with Department of Health within 90 days of employment - or - enrollment in an accredited Master's-level program in psychology, criminal justice, social work or related field, within 1 year of employment.
  • Ability to pass background check in order to enter Thurston County Correctional Facility.
  • Ability to use personal computers and related software programs.
  • Must have current Washington State Driver's License.DESIRED SKILLS :
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to communicate well in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Some knowledge of local mental health, chemical dependency, domestic violence and social service resources.
  • Some working knowledge of local and federal Veterans resources is desired.
  • Experience working in a correctional facility is desired.
