Broad Overview
The field-based “Medical Science Liaison” is responsible for supporting the safe and effective use of BTG Specialty Pharmaceutical (SP) therapies (Oncology / Hematology), focusing on communicating complex medical and scientific information to healthcare professionals and enhancing patient outcomes through improved customer (HCP) engagement. The MSL will spend most of their time in the field providing direct medical support to the sales, commercial, and trade field teams. This position will report to the Sr. Director, Medical Affairs. Applicants should live near Chicago, Detroit, or New York Areas to support the Northern regions of the US.
Responsibilities
Provide evidence-based scientific and medical support to the field-based sales, commercial, and trade teams to enhance medical coverage for the SP product line.Identify new and upcoming KOLs / KOIs and develop professional relationships based on bi-directional scientific exchange and patient interest, while fostering and deepening ongoing relationships with established KOLs / KOIs.Execute the field medical support strategy with the objective of improving patient outcomes through enhanced customer (HCP) engagement, scientific discussions, and clinical education of HCPs.Engage with assigned members from commercial, sales, and trade on a regular basis to ensure alignment with their HCP engagement strategy and to address medical support needs.Adhere to and report on any assigned performance metrics / KPIs in a timely manner.Provide meaningful support at assigned conferences, symposia, and medical education events, summarizing insights gained from engagement with HCPs / KOLs.Execute customer-facing training sessions and identify additional opportunities for education and training.Build, maintain, and manage effective professional relationships with contracted External Experts (EE) or Key Opinion Leaders (KOL).Ensure compliance with BTG SOPs, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and Regulatory programs.Engage in regular professional self-development in one’s area of expertise and SP product line.Accurate accounting of personal travel finances and reporting of external spend.The above duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake other reasonable duties compatible with your experience and competencies.
Qualifications
Terminal degree in a clinically related area preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD / DO) or bachelor’s degree with significant experience.Oncology / Hematology experience preferred.Demonstrated scientific and medical acumen, preferably with a publication and teaching record.Clinical acumen with healthcare experience in a complex healthcare delivery system.Demonstrated ability to master new therapeutic areas.Industry experience in a clinical, medical, or scientific role preferred.Outstanding interpersonal consultative and communication skills (verbal and written).Excellent presentation / platform skills.Sincere desire for self-motivated continuous scientific, technical, and medical learning.Strong teaching acumen with a focus on practical learning.Ability to manage and prioritize workload, multitask, and manage diverse issues and responsibilities.Ability to identify and creatively address problems in an organized manner.Willingness to work within and outside of traditional business hours as well as in a team and independently.Company Benefits
