Platform Manager

Our Automotive Technology business is passionate about the automotive industry and produces as well as markets high-tech automotive components worldwide. Our product and service range includes chassis technologies such as steering and damper systems and the assembly of axle systems as well as powertrain components for conventional and alternative engines. We also develop assembly systems for body-in-white construction and produce lightweight car body components in series.

In 2003, our manufacturing facility was established in the South Industrial Park of Terre Haute, Indiana. Beginning with just one assembly line, a handful of employees and 58,000 square feet, the company has grown to over 450 employees and 224,000 square feet. In addition, we have an office on northeast side of Indianapolis where the Procurement and Supplier Development Department, Business Development and Product Engineering are now located. We have a third location in Troy, Michigan which houses our Sales Engineering, Logistics Distribution Center for USA, and Customer Resident Engineering.

Your responsibilities

Responsible overseeing the activities of the Project Leaders within a product platform to ensure Product Life Cycle is meeting customer standards and thyssenkrupp Presta systems. Designs and develops new products and product improvements by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Train, mentor and supervise project leaders
• Ensure know-how transfer to local employees and/or secure local successor for expat position
• Responsible for all project management related activities like:
  • Timing
  • Design
  • Budgeting
  • DVP&R and PVP&R
  • Prototype builds
  • Testing
  • APQP / FMEA
  • Launch Management
• Oversee product designs within the platform, such as correction of errors, design revisions, process changes, new customer requirements, etc.
• Supervise design of new products based on customer specifications and company process technology and capabilities
• Responsible for following Presta Product Life Cycle process & maintain PLM database at the released level (incl. drawings and lists of important characteristics).
• Create and lead product development teams to complete Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and product design reviews.
• Attend and visit customer sites for testing and evaluation of new product designs.
• Confirm engineering calculations to verify product functionality, product manufacturability (process capabilities), tolerance stack ups are acceptable and correct, and the product meets customer specifications.
• Establish project management standards.
• Oversee the product life cycle process with internal departments and externally with customers and suppliers. Interface with customer purchasing and engineering departments over the product life cycle.
• Conduct value engineering product design reviews for cost reductions and savings.
• Ensure plans for cost reduction initiatives are met.
• Oversee project schedules with multiple suppliers and internal to keep projects on schedule.
• Ensure product benchmark analysis where needed.
• Oversee the development of test plans to validate new design ideas and customer specification, supervise testing and Design Of Experiment.
• Coordinate with account managers support plans for potential new business opportunities within platform.
• Ensure that the necessary test equipment is available and approve test work instructions
• Ensure analysis of test results and creation of according actions to close test failures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises all employees in the Project Management Group of his platform, may share engineering, CAD & testing resources. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; support appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Your profile

Experience in i-shaft technology. BS Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering. Advanced Engineering Degree a plus. Experience in manufacturing processes such as assembly and machining technologies preferably in mass production, process and tooling design knowledge / experience using the following CAD software: Catia V, and Ideas are a plus. Experience using APQP, FMEA, Poka Yoke Design, and AIAG automotive standards, modeling software, such as Finite Element Analysis, problem Solving and experience with Ford WERS system is a plus.
