What are the responsibilities and job description for the MD, Assoc General Counsel position at TIAA?
This position reports to the General Counsel, Technology/Digital/Operations/Shared Services (“TDOSS”), and Enterprise Chief Privacy Officer. This position will play a pivotal role providing general legal support and guidance concerning data protection, artificial intelligence (“AI”) and privacy matters. This position is responsible for providing visionary leadership, direction, and oversight on day-to-day matters as well as projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and long-term goals.

Base Pay Range: $170,000/yr. - $265,000/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).

Key Responsibilities And Duties
- Provide strategic legal counsel on enterprise TDOSS initiatives, including recordkeeping modernization, technology adoption, and organizational restructuring.
- Develop and implement legal frameworks for change control processes.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, offering insights on the legal implications of strategic business decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to ensure alignment of legal strategies with business objectives.
- Manage external counsel, ensuring efficient delivery of legal services.
- Advise on legal aspects of contracts that involve AI tools, privacy, data protection, and related issues.
- Doctoral Degree Law Required
- 8 Years Required; 10 Years Preferred
