What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President, Quantitative ESG Research position at TIAA?
The Vice President, Quantitative ESG Research will play a leadership role in driving analytical insights and data strategy for responsible investing across public and private asset classes.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Applies quantitative research methods and analytical tools to evaluate the financial implications of ESG/sustainability risks and opportunities
- Creates practical and scalable solutions that drive the integration of ESG/sustainability data, particularly climate, in proprietary score frameworks, investment decision-making and portfolio management
- Ensures robust process for calculation/methodology to generate ESG metrics and analytical outputs across disclosures and other publications
- Works across the organization to influence the data and technology strategy for responsible investing and harmonize capabilities among diverse asset classes
- Partners with embedded sustainability professionals/RI and investment teams to undertake investment product research and development and respond to quickly evolving client needs and regulatory expectations
- Drives innovative, leading analysis and thought leadership by staying current on latest developments in sustainability data, tools, competitor capabilities and trends/themes

Required Qualifications
- 5 years experience in financial markets quantitative research
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years experience in financial markets quantitative research
- Possesses strong understanding of ESG data, particularly climate, and financial data and common reporting standards; analytical skills with proficiency in data science, statistical analysis, and visualization
- Familiarity with financial modeling with the ability to draw connections between ESG/sustainability data such as carbon emissions, climate scenario analysis and physical and transition risk to financial considerations, forecasting and investment underwriting
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize information, summarize issues and creatively address business needs

Base Pay Range: $185,000/yr. - $218,000/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
