What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer/Trainer position at TIAG®?
TIAG is now hiring a Technical Writer/Trainer to join our team supporting the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC). This position is onsite 4x a week in Norfolk, VA and requires and active Secret clearance to start work.
NAVFAC builds and maintains sustainable facilities, delivers utilities, and services, and provides Navy expeditionary combat force capabilities. NAVFAC requires facilities under its command and the facility related controls systems (FRCS) in them to be interconnected to properly provide Technical Management, Continuous Monitoring, and an End-to-End (E2E) Cyber Defense capabilities to NAVFAC’s Facilities Engineering Commands. The Control Systems Platform Enclave version 3 (CSPEv3) has been identified as the networking platform these systems will connect to and requires location specific integration for each of the designated control systems that will be connected.
The primary job of the CSPEv3 support team is to engineer and implement CSPEv3 infrastructure by standing up all technologies, both software and hardware, to integrate FRCS systems into this network topology with an end goal to enhance the cyber security posture and enable continuous monitoring of critical systems.

Responsibilities Include
- Develop technical documentation detailing design, installation, configuration, operational management, and training material on the installation and integration of the CSPEv3 network into the Navy communications architecture.
- Produce documentation such as high-level and technical infrastructure drawings, process outlines and or system/network schematics, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, and other supporting documentation development as necessary to support standardizing installation and configuration activities across a diverse portfolio.
- Responsible for developing reports based on timelines, completed tasks, and material needed for providing a status update to the client.
- Collaborate closely with the Delivery Lead and Engineers to compile and consolidate technical knowledge into a learnable format to further be used as formal training.
- Proficiency in professional technical writing and editing services on materials like informational products, presentations, design documentation, reports, etc., while complying with Navy style guides and quality control measures
- Understand the technical processes and stack of technologies (Windows, Red Hat, VM, Networking, switch configuration, Domain management and software tools)
- Has some familiarity with Facility Related Control Systems (FRCS), network infrastructure, cross-domain trusts and their documentation and standard diagrams.
- Analytical skillset to include technical documentation creation, proficiency in MS Office products including Visio, proficiency in Adobe PDF
- Good communication skills with the ability to listen to details and capture information.
- Strong team player who takes initiative to support the team as mission priorities shift and adjust to support demand
- Able to work with multiple levels of leadership and communication chains
- 2 years of experience in writing and creating technical documentation, systems/network engineering with a focus on build documents OR equivalent combination of education, training, & experience
- Experience supporting NAVFAC systems and missions
- Experience in technical writing and editing of IT documents.
- Experience writing deliverables for the federal government.
- Experience writing technical documentation
- Be available to provide writing samples
