Title: Extended Day Coordinator
Reports to: Associate Director of Operations and Site Director
The Extended Day Program Coordinator is responsible for designing, supervising, and implementing the after-care program at TIC Summer Camp. This role ensures a safe, engaging, and structured environment where campers can participate in recreational activities after the regular camp day. The Coordinator will oversee volunteers, manage program logistics, and maintain open communication with parents and camp leadership.
Essential Job Functions:
Program Coordination:
- Design and implement the Extended Day (after-care) program from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. each day.
- Plan and oversee engaging activities that accommodate a wide range of camper ages and interests.
- Maintain and organize the extended day area and equipment, ensuring proper setup and cleanup.
Camper Supervision & Engagement:
- Ensure campers are actively engaged, safe, and adhering to camp behavior expectations.
- Apply youth development principles to create a fun and supportive after-care environment.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring proper hydration, snacks, and injury prevention.
- Lead an Extended Day Workshop during staff training to prepare counselors for their roles.
Parent Communication & Administration:
- Record daily attendance, manage sign-outs, and track drop-in payments.
- Communicate any behavioral concerns or payment issues to the Camp Director.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are followed for a safe and efficient extended day program.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a leadership or teaching capacity.
- Ability to supervise and support a team of counselors.
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED and Medication Administration Training (MAT) certification or ability to obtain before the start of camp. Additional health care training may be required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Must obtain necessary background checks and fingerprinting prior to working with children.
Physical Aspects of the Job:
- Ability to lead and participate in active games and recreational activities.
- Ability to observe camper behavior and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Physical ability to respond to emergencies requiring first aid.
Training & Schedule:
- Staff Orientation: (Required for all staff; some exceptions can be made for returning staff and school obligations) Week of June 10
- Camp Dates: (Preference given to staff who can work the entire summer; new staff MUST work 3 of 4 sessions): June 16-August 8
General Information:
- Hours: Monday - Friday, 2:30-6 PM (Part-time, short-term position)
- Commitment: Acceptance of a TIC contract is a primary commitment for the term of the contract; additional jobs, internships, or obligations that interfere with the schedule are not permitted.
- Compensation: Based on skill, experience, and education. Paid bi-weekly via direct deposit. Attendance bonus for completion of all nine weeks.
- Housing: TIC is a day camp with no residential facilities; out-of-town staff must arrange their own housing.
