Position Summary
Base-Mid Ironworker Journeyman are responsible for erection of base and mid-section of tower in accordance with blueprint plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Setup and tear down crane by removing pins and sections, cable and weights; and set boom on truck
- Set base section by attaching rigging to cranes and taglines to towers; pick and wash tower; install nuts and bolts halfway; lower tower onto leveling nuts and secure remaining nuts
- Set mid section by attaching rigging and tagline to towers; wash and/or paint tower; and align towers and install bolts to secure sections
- Move cranes by putting outriggers and crane boom in travel position; putting T-bar on flat bed; and scout route and plan movement
- Perform site evaluations and general clean-up
- Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity
- Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed
Qualifications
- May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position; wind experience required
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of tools and equipment such as, power and non-powered hand tools, drills, forklifts, skid loaders and power buggy’s
Requirements
- The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site,
- Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor
- Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
- May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access
maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
- May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across
- Must have required tools
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
