THIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Position Summary : The primary purpose of this position is to assist our clients in the implementation of their Hazard Mitigation (HM) Programs as well as maintain the effectiveness, efficiency, and success of the various HM programs and business management operations in relation to client and Business Unit’s requirements, goals, and objectives.
Serve as the Hazard Mitigation Specialist to apply FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Grant Program’s Guidance with a specific focus on administering and monitoring program support assistance which is critical to effective mitigation program delivery to our clients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include :
- Ensure the coordination of the collection, distribution, and maintenance of HMA funding and / or disaster-related information is properly disseminated
- Serve as a coordinator and liaison to client counterparts regarding the implementation of FEMA mitigation grant programs.
- Experience writing, developing, and / or reviewing Mitigation plans
- The Lead will be required to coordinate with other FEMA programs, such as the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program activities under Section 404 of the Stafford Act. The Lead is expected to perform the full range of implementation and managing activities for these programs
- Provide the client insight and coordination of technical assistance and will participate in the coordination of project eligibility through analysis including technical feasibility, cost management, extensions, and project appeals of Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Program project applications. Must have the ability to present program and technical requirements to a varied professional audience.
- Serve as Project Lead for HMA contract work as assigned.
- Knowledge of the interrelationships between the HMA grants and the other functional areas within the Business Unit
- Ability to work through incomplete and conflicting data
- Interpersonal and communication skills to explain, define, and advise clients on the HMA rules, regulations, and processes
- Travel as required including extended deployments to support Tidal Basin business initiatives and projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Complete all required compliance training on an annual basis
