Job Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Inspect multiple properties on a daily basis and respond to citizen and official complaints against properties, uses, and individuals.
- Perform proactive code enforcement inspections to ensure that City/County codes and ordinances are evenly enforced.
- Prepare case reports and research property history.
- Other related job duties as required.
- Knowledge of Florida Building Code and other related codes, laws, rules, and regulations.
- Must have a basic understanding of construction and law enforcement.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to deal effectively with the public.
- Must be able to effectively resolve conflicts.
- Must be team oriented.
- Constant standing, walking and climbing; occasional kneeling, bending and stooping.
- Occasional moderate-to-heavy lifting and carrying.
- Frequent driving.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in criminal justice OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and two years' experience in code enforcement, land use permitting, general law enforcement, corrections and/or general military law investigations.
