Job Title: Field Technician
Classification: Part-time/full-time
Compensation: $20-25/hr. based on experience
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Technician 's main role is data collection support. Technician works to fulfill the monthly contractual obligations per the company's clients. Must be able to drive long distances and use off road vehicles (four wheeler/UTV).
Technician’s work environment has regular exposure to the hot and humid Florida weather in remote & heavily vegetative area, with exposure to stinging/biting insects, potentially hazardous wildlife. This position is a combination of Driving/Travel, Field Work and Office. Travel area includes all of South Florida up to Orlando. Office is located in Royal Palm Beach, FL.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow company & client standard operating procedures (SOP):
- Prepare & load vehicle, backpack and pelican cases via check lists
- Travel to the field/site location via company vehicle
- Use laptop (MS word & excel) with instrument software
- Replace and or refill station desiccant
- Maintain proper functionality of all electronics & equipment
- Keep sites clean and clear of vegetation using machete, weed whacker and chemical application.
- Clear site of all insects and bugs, frogs, wasps.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma required; College Degree in Biology, Environmental or Ecology is preferred.
Drug-Free Workplace
Valid FL Driver’s License with record check
Typical work week (M-F)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & GENERAL ABILITIES:
- Travel and field work 70% of the time; office 30%
- Operate ATV/4-wheeler in off-road environments
- Show excellent Truck operation skills (driving off-road, on canal levees and berms)
- Basic use of hand tools.
- Lift an excess of 40lbs.
- Travel long distances in vehicle
- Batteries & power supplies
- Computers & Various Electronics (sensors, modems, rain gauges, small motors)
- General knowledge of surveying & Datums (NAVD-NGVD)
- Walking through rough terrain including wetlands, for extended periods
- Have basic water skills-be able to swim
- Use a machete or Weed-Whacker to trim vegetation

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
