Position Summary
The MRI Technologist administers image scans on patients to produces quality images of the designated areas of the body.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates the MRI scanner to produce 3-D images.
- Maintains the MRI scanning equipment in good operating order. Cleans and maintains the CAT room.
- Responsible for following up with patient after procedures.
- Responsible for anticipating potential patient complications regarding IV contrast.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
- Ability to work between Newport News and Williamsburg offices
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Knowledge in starting IVs and administration of contrast.
- Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
- Skill in excellent customer service.
- Skill in using MRI machine.
- Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
- Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
- Ability to work independently.
Education / Training / Requirements
- High School diploma/GED.
- Six to twelve months related experience/training.
- Completion of ARRT program.
- Registered as an MRI Technologist.
- Licensed in the state of Virginia.
- CPR Certified.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to sit for periods of time.
- Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time.
- Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. *
- Ability to grasp and hold up to 25 lbs.*
- Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone.
- Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
